Jose Pacheco - Primordial Black Holes as Dark Matter Candidates
Title: Primordial Black Holes as Dark Matter Candidates

Abstract: After the non-detection of supersymmetric particles by the LHC, a plethora of alternatives have been proposed in the literature in order to explain the nature of dark matter. An old proposal, primordial black holes, has been the subject of intense investigations in the past yers. However, there are difficulties with this idea, in particular, to avoid the Hawking evaporation of Planck mass black holes. I will discuss these problems and a possible solution in the case of primordial black holes formed with a small electric charge. If the Schwinger mechanism is quenched for light black holes, they can evaporate until attaining an extremal stable state that could constituted the dark matter present in the universe.
